Nothing toughens you up more than being a Canadian in the winter, but there is no shame in asking for help. In fact, it was recorded that Canadians suffer from 11,500 injuries annually just from snow shoveling alone. 100 of those injuries resulted in deaths.
So when it just gets to be too much, or you don't have the time, ask us for help. We have experienced staff that knows what they are doing and can get it done quickly. We will take care of your sidewalks, walkways, garage pad, and deck if desired. How much is that feeling worth when you drive home from a hard day at work, and you know someone already shoveled for you? Ahhh Nice Winter Tips: Don't buy the biggest or cheapest shovel you can find. When the snow becomes wet and heavy it's like lifting a five-gallon pail of water every shovel. FUN FACT - you will get done quicker using a smaller shovel and taking a few extra swaths. You slow down when you get tired. Going smaller doesn't mean going cheaper. Make sure your blade is light but thick plastic. Look to see how secure it joins to the handle, and make sure the handle doesn't bow under the pressure. A good snow shovel should last for years. Winter is finally over and it's time to get at the yard. If you played your cards right last fall you would have prepping your lawn for spring. If not - nothing is too late and we can work with your lawn if it's a mess or a golf green. Spring is the time to evaluate what needs to be done and jump on it. We offer (when the lawn is dry enough) a power rake, hand rake, aerate if necessary, all foods and fertilizers with a concern for your family and pets. Give the lawn a good clean and mow and let it grow. If you have any landscaping repairs we can work with you as well.
Our Springs and Summers are too short, and deserved to be enjoyed outside. Let's get it done so you can relax and enjoy what you work so hard for. Spring Tips: If you plant tomatoes outside then put in some Marigolds as well. Both plants love each other and can protect each other from the harmful-root knot. Basil, beans, chives, garlic, onions, and mint are a good buddy to have as they also help keep bugs away. Don't plant cucumbers near your tomatoes as it actually attracts root rot when planted together.

Summer Yard Care. click here for our Summer Service Page.
Summertime is way too valuable to not be spent in your yard. Make your yard enjoyable by creating an environment that draws you out there. We service all types of needs from mowing, fertilizing, feeding, whipper snapping, patch and repair, landscaping.... See our more detailed list in our Summer Service Page. We do pride ourselves in working with each client and see them as unique. So if you are concerned about pet safety, timelines for us to be on-site, even cost then let us know what you need so we can suit you. Our experienced staff know all the tricks of the trade such as lawn heights for each season, how much is too little or too much watering, when to water... It's basically fun science and we have the education that can help you.
Summertime Tips: When you water - do so in the evening. If you are not sure your lawn has enough moisture then a trick is to grab a screwdriver and poke it in your lawn. If it's hard to push in and no moisture sticks when you pull it out then it is really thirsty. You should be able to push it in by hand, and when you pull it out then notice if you can see how light the soil is down deeper than on the very top. You should see moisture as deep as 4 inches as a minimum. |

Fall is here. click here for Fall care Service Page.

Fall is one of the more important seasons for doing your due diligence. Most people believe to just have one last cut and leave everything until spring, but that couldn't be more wrong. Yes, you do have a final cut but at a certain blade height, that's slightly lower than what you did in the summer. This is the time for an overseed - yes seeding is important at this time. There is still growth happening under the snow and giving that seed time to catch and germinate while there is no heavy foot traffic adds a real benefit come springtime. Also, it is time to get those leaves off as well. Come spring they act as a blanket and don't allow the needed evaporation effect plus the crucial sun rays to wake up your lawn again. Sounds complicated? Not so much but having an expert hand prep your lawn before it snows has a great payoff in the maintenance the following year.
Fall Tips: write on your calendar ahead of time when to put your garden hose away. Typically in the fall it gets used much less anyway so set a date before you know it will snow and deal with it without freezing and breaking parts. Water expands when freezes so any water left in plumbing fixtures outside can break. Turn the water tap off (if possible) that's located inside your home typically just before your outside water hose outlet. Let all water drain out between that inside tap and your outside outlet and you will be fine. Take your hose and put it away from the outside elements until spring. |
